Burning smell from laptop

I have an alienware area51 m5550, i've had it for about 2 years now and its run great. The other day though I had trouble getting the power cord unplugged from it it seemed to be stuck, it wasn't that hard to get out just more difficult than normal. Then when I plugged it back in there was a burning smell coming from the power plugin. I can put it in and take it out easily but there is still a burning smell what should i do?

Sounds like the charging port has become a little bent and is now shorting somewhere. Honestly, unless you're prepared to disassemble the entire machine and possibly solder on a new power jack, there isn't much you can do. Maybe wiggle it around to try and get it back into place, but be careful because the power jack can be easily broken.

Or it could be something more barbaric, you could've gotten something stuck in the charger and the charge-heat from your computer is cooking it up. I think this, because you said it was hard, then suddenly became easy, which could mean something was stuck, and now it's farther in.

yeah thats what i thought, i think i'm gonna have it looked at, but is it ok to use it until i can get it looked at?
