Burning with nero

When burning with this software is best to not use the internet or download or use other software, will an of these effect the quality of the burn?

It shouldn't make any difference to be honest. So long as you're not doing something so strenuous that the buffer underrun protection has to kick in, it'll be fine, I'm always surfing while burning, and have never had any problems.

Thats because you have a mac:eek:
LOL, now we're not going to have one of those debates....

My PC isn't particularly amazing, I mean you can see in my signature, it's only the equivelent of an FX-53. So long as the pc can deliver info to the drive fast enough, I can't see how surfing will affect a burn.

If I get a NAV update at any time, the pc slows to a crawl. If you (foolishly!) use Windows auto updating I am guessing that's a guarantee it will mess up any burning if it occurs at that time.

When you burn with it, just dont do too many things.
i.e. surf the internet, play games, listen to music, etc..

It'll be best to let it burn and finish before starting anything else.

The size of your hard drive buffer, your burner buffer, your burning speed, your CPU speed, how much RAM you have, and yes, how many other programs you run, will all have an effect on burning. The trick is to see exactly what effect it would generate on your burns.

A PC stretched to the max (small RAM, slow/burdened CPU, lots of programs open, a 512KB hard drive buffer, small burner buffer) will easily generate coasters, because your resources are all in use and the burner can't be fed a steady stream of data. At the other extreme, a machine with a gig of RAM, a fast CPU, nothing but Nero open, and minimum 2MB buffers on both hard drive and burner (like I have) will show your Nero buffer to be always over 95% full, and you can burn at the fastest speed your burner and blank disks support, and burn coasters maybe once a year.

I burn movies with nero and download with limewire, surf the web, listen to music all at the same time with no issues at all, never made a coaster!

What version of nero are you using and what are your system specs?

I think it is version six, not sure which one exactly though. How about encoding with DVD shrink or copying using another software should this be done when not surfing the net?

What is a harddrive buffer rate? And burner buffer?

How many DL dvds have you burned? How do you know the dvds are OK? Do you verify the data on every dvd? Do you check every single file after the burn?

You'd be surprised how many media dvds have errors but it usually does not prevent playing. When I've got verification errors on media dvds, a CRC check shows the files are intact so there is some error in the disk management information.

I have burned over 150 dvd's.

They play in all my dvd players just fine.

Never checked any of them.

No way, I burn them and watch them...they come out perfect everytime!

The people who can multitask while burning must have beast machines. I tried surfing while burning and the video turned out all pixellated in my dvd player :( So now I just leave it alone.
