Buy laptop in Hong Kong?

Hello everyone,

I live in China and I have purchased three computers here. But each time I have bought one, I know that the windows software is fake. I have to use an English language operating system and Chinese vendors simply don't have it, so they install a fake English version instead.

I have never had any major issues with these computers but I just think it must be better to use a legit version for many reasons.

With this in mind I was thinking of going to Hong Kong and buying one there. The official languages in Hong Kong are both English and Cantonese so surely it must be easy to buy a computer that is box fresh in English.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience of buying a computer in Hong Kong?

And if so, can you share where to go to get one?

I am familiar with a chain store called Fortress. That is one option. But wondered if anyone has any other options.

You do realize it's just a matter of changing the language installed right? Why do you think it's a fake OS?
 
I am under the impression, and many people have claimed this, that most Windows OS is fake in China.

I have had computers that would not update after a certain period of time. This leads me to believe the OS is fake too.

I am at a bit of a loss as to what to do. I did think about getting a computer, stripping it completely of the OS installed and then buying it online from Microsoft and installing it myself. But I have never done this before.
 
Does it say its activated? I'm not seeing anything about fake windows operating systems in china. I am seeing Fake android and linux though. It's not that hard to install windows anymore, pretty simple really as the install does all the work and should install most of the drivers now, not like XP.
 
I'm sure there are tutorials on YouTube about doing this.

I am not a really tech-minded person, but it just seems to be a general consensus that Windows in China is fake. I have no evidence of this.

Actually, I just thought, on my computer now I have MS Office installed and if I try to use Word it tells me the product key is invalid.
