Hello!

About a year ago, a thunderstorm was raging outside, and in the morning my computer wouldn't turn on. Recently, i have had the problem diagnosed and the motherboard is the only dead part. (the processor was tested and it workes)

My dead motherboard:
MSI H67MA-E35

other parts:

CPU:
Intel Core i5-2500
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/u...5-2500-processor-6m-cache-up-to-3-70-ghz.html

GPU:
MSI radeon r9 390 gaming 8gb

RAM:
8GB kit(2x4) Crucial Ballistix Sport Series DDR3-1600, cl9

Power sup:
Corsair Builder series CX500
500W

The problem I am having is, that I can't find a motherboard that has the LGA1155 cpu socket and DDR3 memory type.
Is this configuration simply so old that no seller is selling such a motherboard anymore and i am forced to upgrade?
Also if i do upgrade should i go for DDR4 ram or keep the old one?

If i do upgrade, i am ready to spend around 300€ ~~ $340 (for the motherboard, cpu and ram)
Do u have any recommendations?

What do u think of the AMD Ryzen 5 1600 processor perhaps?

Thank you in advance!

Would definitely swing a new build at that point. Not sure how easy it would be to find a decent socket 1155 motherboard comparable to your old.one so you wouldn't have to reinstall windows or possibly have to buy a new activation key.

I don't know which country you are from, there are plenty of H61 motherboard on ebay for £20

Ryzen 5 1600 is too old.
For your budget, you should be able to get Ryzen 5 2600 with B450 motheboard and 2 x 8GB DDR4

I am not sure if you need to buy new windows key. I used my old windows 7 OEM key in with new set up. It seems to work.

The 1600 is not too old. The OP being limited by the R9 390, I think the 1600 makes the most sense, especially considering it's only $100.

@NanoSec if you're wanting to maximize your budget the Ryzen 5 3600 would be your best bet.

Whatever you choose, you'll need DDR4. You'll want at least 2666MHz.
