Buying a computer.

Hey guys.
In a couple of weeks I'm purchasing a new computer. This one just frankly isn't good and I want to get rid of it..
My current specs:
Processor: Intel Celeron CPU 420 @ 1.6GhZ
Ram: .99 GB
OS: Windows XP Professional
This thing can barely hold HD quality videos (720p.)
It freezes a lot on big programs, can't run any games, etc..

I don't know much about computers so I was wondering how much I should spend on a good PC?
Something that can actually hold like 1080p videos and let me edit my own without lagging or freezing of Sony Vegas.
I don't get paid that much either, I'm only 16. Just started my new job, probably gonna get roughly 600-800 a month.

Welcome to the forums :)

Assuming you're in the US? You didn't specify...

Basically, to a point, the more money you throw at it, the better it's going to be. Up until around $1200 or so, there's almost always something a little better for a little more. I'd say at least $800 or so for a good editing/gaming rig.
