So i will be soon getting about $1,200 to buy a laptop (preferably a gaming one) that will last me my last two years of high school and first two years of college so at least 4 years.

1) I asked my friend about this topic and he said for me to get an alright laptop to last through college and spend the rest on a good desktop because he believes laptops suck. Is this a good idea?

2) I did some research myself and i feel like i want to get this laptop,

With an 8GB memory,750GB 7200rpm hybrid hard drive with 8GB SSD, and Intel advanced N 300Mbps WiFi + Bluetooth combo, coming to $1,205. Is this a good buy or is there anything i can do get get more bang for my buck? Possibly get a different laptop?

Do you need the portability with this? Actually NEED. Because if not a tower would be a much better choice.

Do you want the portability for gaming purposes or just general use?

No, you can get a quite a bit better lappy for $1200, or even $1000l thet cyber power doesnt even come stock with a great gpu or ram, only 4 gb.Also, I really would reccomend getting a very mobile kindle fire and build a desktop, as most gaming laptops (like 85%+) have awful battery life (like 1 and a half hours, unless you want to lug a already heavy laptop with a spare battery or big 12 cell battery which has 2 hour and 15 min battery life) and thay are heavy. But, if you really want a heavy bad battery life lappy, than I will pull up some reccomendations and a link for a spare battery or 12 cell, becasue you will need one.But I want you to think about it before I pull up reccomendations, as a gaming lappy is not going to be very mobile.

Well the reason I want a laptop is because I'm gonna need to use it for college, so I just need enough time to walk to class, sit there, and walk back. Also I'm not really looking for An ultrA high quality, all max settings laptop. I'm fine with med, med-low settings, as long as it can run high end computer games coming out. Ive been playing games on the lowest settings my whole life so I can handle it.

Denther, for general use so like word processor and maybe some engineering programs, if I play games I'll probably be plugged in somehow

And I'll think About the kindle fire And desktop idea, if all else fails i might build a good desktop now and buy a portable, lower end laptop when I go to college

avadirect.com/gaming-laptop-configurator.asp?PRID=24076 Nice lappy, make sure in the cusomize and buy, you add 64 bit home prem windows 7 and I highly reccomend adding the quad core i7 and additional 8 cell battery, plus extra $20 for biger hdd.

i7 quad core 2.3 right?
And also can you suggest a coooling pad for my laptop, I heard it can really extend the laptops life

same problem

Hey not to steal away subject or anything.
But i've got the exact same problem.. choosing a decent gaming laptop. I got around 1000 euro's to spend on it even a little more if it's for big differences, the last couple of laptops where all integrated to the motherboard and they all burn't down after the warrenty ran out.... sucks....

It would be nice if someone could help pointing out directions where i could find such a laptop :)

Regards Christina
