Buying a laptop question

I have been doing some research past few weeks on getting a laptop, however at the retailer i plan on purchasing it from threw me a curveball on top of the computer, a warranty, and then a service package including antivirus, spyware, optimization, and windows updates. I just wanted to see soem feedback if either one or even both of them are worth it. The salesman said the warranty is worth it alone because it covers a battery replacement within 2 or 3 years, and he assured me i would need one. The battery would cost $150-$200 with the plan itself only being $150. Was he feeding me soem lines or is that worth it, and secondly for $130 i get antivurs spyware installed on my computer, and he said they do my windows updates, i figure thats simple enough for me to do though, and soem kind of optimaztion where they take out programs i would never use, now it all sounds good from him selling it to me, but i dotn want to drop more money that i dont have too. If anyone has any insight please let me know, thank you

The warranty plan might be worth it... it depends on the manufacutrer and what kind of warranty they have (1 yr, 2yr). The antivurs spyware windows update thing is garbage, you can get that stuff for free from here.

I'm not sure if it's still available, but there was something called Freescan Online from McAfee. It will tell you if you are infected and where the infection is for FREE but it won't do anything about it.

Definitely, it is better to get 2-3 yr return to depot warranty. I once flashed my $1000 laptop's bios 1-2 months right after the 1yr warranty expired. This laptop is now a $1000 paperweight, so yeah, definitely extended warranty is good to have. :P

There are countless Free GOOD virus scans out there, dont worry about finding them, just dont pick up that service package.
