I was just curious if this laptop was worth it price wise. I really dont know much about laptops and its only real use is going to be for college, not games. Price range is to about 750ish, dont want to spend to much.

Specs:
Vista
Intel Celeron M 440(1.86GHz) (dual core?)
ATI Radeon Xpress 200M
80GB (can always buy an eternal)
512mb ram (concern?)
Price: $600

Link to the laptop http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220133

Or theres this Presario V6000TX series PC (though i hear presarios arent great)

Specs:
xp pro
Intel(R) Pentium(R) dual core processor T2130 (1.86 GHz, 1MB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB)
1GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 950 with Additional Productivty Ports
120GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive
Price: says its $775 after shipping (includes a printer for $80), but im not sure if thats with the app (academic purchase program or something, for students)

So if any one has an suggestions or what not please share.

You know one thing I realized is that newegg and tiger are great for computer parts, but suck for selling laptops at a good price. If I was you I'd look at this: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Acer...85213/catOid/-12963/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do
Looks like a really good deal to me, I may even pick one up.

Thats completely true, I was looking at notebooks for the past week and Best Buy and Circuit City have much better deals then Newegg does. Even Dell has cheaper prices for their high end notebooks then Newegg does.

I cant see how people spend $500-$600 for a Celeron M with 512MB of RAM, and say that it's an excellent notebook for the price..

Yep, plus when you buy from best buy or circuit city they often throw in printers, accessories, etc. for pretty cheap. I really am thinking about picking up that laptop at Circuit City if the sale with my current laptop goes through(Which I think it did :D).

Edit; I did a google search of that laptop from Circuit City for $699. And this is what I found http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...80-1504&SRCCODE=GOOGLEBASE&CMP=OTC-GOOGLEBASE . Point Proven, tiger wants $200 more for the same laptop.

Might even check out this as a good laptop for the price, the main advantage here are the 2GB of ram it comes with and the smaller 14" screen giving the same resolution as most 15.4" screens but it weighs a whole pound less, which is great for school...

P.S. NEVER buy a computer with vista loaded that only has 512MB of ram, they run so slow it's not properly useable!!!!
