Buying a new card

i have an asus x1600pro 256mb, im wondering what new card i can buy, that is better than this, and and around 150.00...would i notice a bigger difference with the same card at 512mb?

They are a bit better. However, I'm sure the x850 gets much more hot and the fan's much louder than the x1600. Also, I'm sure it requires more power. That's the main reason I went with the 7600 rather than one of those x850s.

The x850 is a much better performer (as well as better then the 7600GS).

They dont get that hot actually, I have mine OC'd and it runs around 30-35C idle, and around 60-65C load.

Now if you have the fan at 100%, it can get a little loud, but you dont need it running at 100% all the time. I had it running at 14%, and the temps never went above 74C in high-end games.

They really have come down in price reasonable, and since they'll rival a $130+ 7600GT, they're an easy choice.

Remember that all these cards are PCI-E. If you only have an AGP slot you'll need to reconsider your options. Make sure your PSU will handle it as well.
