Buying a new computer

I really don't know much about computers. Therefore, I have no idea what is a good deal and what isn't when I go to a computer store.

I am looking for a new laptop. My budget is only 400$, but I saw a lot of adds lately featuring laptops for sale around this price. I am a student and I use my computer mostly to download and watch movies, to go on internet and to do my study and homework.

Any piece of advice on what I should look on when I buy a computer or what computer would give me the most for my low budget?

Thank you for the help,

I work on allot of laptops/notebooks and desktops, for a laptop I would look a Toshiba, they seem to be the best... you want this highest amount of memory /ram you can get, plus the larger cpu / processor...

Thank you,

I will consider your advice greatly.

Also, I realize I posted in the wrong section of the Forum (should have posted in "laptop", not in "desktop"). I don't know if my post should be moved by the moderators, or not, but I am sorry for the mix up.

With that budget you can get yourself a nice laptop with great specs. You want a good cpu and amount of ram so you can browse the web smoothly with out any problems and have your computer run for a good life time..

Do you like a certain brand or are you looking to go with any brand? I prefer you go with Lenovo or Dell they make great computers for movie watching and web browsing.
