Buying a new graphics card

Hello everyone! Im looking to upgrade my video card but I realy don't know what to buy. I have R1200($175) and so far my options are: msi nvidia geforce 240gt, gigabyte nvidia geforce 9800gt, any other suggestions would realy help. please help.

Out of the two listed options, I would choose the 9800gt.

The question is, what are you going to be using the videocard for?
Gaming? Video Editing? Movies?
If your going to use it for the sole purpose of watching videos, then you probably don't need to waste your money on higher end graphic cards.
 

To get a better GPU you need to upgrade your RAM to at least 4GB. And if you want to play "hard-core" graphic games you need maybe at least 6 gig.
One more thing you need to get is a new PSU, cause I guess you have an bought PC with a crappy power supply. But I can't judge that, find out your PSU watt power and tell me.


Edit- A quad CPU would be a good insurance for the future just because more and more games gets coded for it
 
I wouldn't know what your purposes with the new GPU is but I guess its mainly gaming?
