Buying a new monitor

Hi everyone, sorry if this is posted in the wrong section but i couldn't find a better place to ask my question.

So i'm planning on buying a new monitor that i plan on using with my computer (which i still have not bought) and my game console, a playstation3.

I'm thinking of buying one of these three monitors:
Benq G2420HD:
-HDMI
-Dynamic Contrast 40 000:1
-1920x1080
-Response time 5ms

Samsung SyncMaster 2343BW:
-Dynamic Contrast 20 000:1
-2048x1152
-Response time 5ms

LG W2343T:
-HDMI
-Dynamic Contrast 30 000:1
-1920x1080
-Response time 2ms

On my old monitor, when playing games you would often see green edges on objects when moving in dark areas, what should i look for to avoid that?
For my computing, i don't need a very good monitor as i will work with documents and programming (no video-editing or gaming).
Which one would you recommend?

Many Thanks/Yunithium

I'd probably go with the LG, just for the quicker response time, even though it doesn't have the best contrast ratio out of those. Unless you want the higher resolution, but your ps3 is going to cap at 1080 (correct me if I'm wrong).

So there is a big difference between 5ms and 2ms?
I thought the higher resolution would be nice when working with documents but i can really do without it.

How are they as brands? I've only had a LG before and it was nice but it didn't manage the darker colors well.
When in dark areas (in a game) it would have green edges on some objects which was annoying once you noticed them (ghosting?). Is this a common problem with LCD's in this price range?

I've never owned the other two brands, so I can't really say either way. The decisions is up to you though. I'm not sure how large of a difference it will make but I know that response time is supposed to help with ghosting. Ghosting could be caused by a lot of things. Bad cable connections, long cables, broken hardware, funky settings etc etc.

I'll get the monitor with the lowest response time then as the higher resolution isn't a must. (found out the lg had 5ms response time but found some samsungs and another lg with only 2ms)
Thank you Damorian
