I want to know what are the majoy/key points to consider before buying a new video card ??? Is there a step to step guide out there which i can read and then decide which video card will suit my needs.

2)i went to a few video card whole saler websites and there were different interfaces/categories listed there such as PCI Express Video Cards, AGP Video Cards, PCI Video Cards, SLI Video Cards, ATI Chipset, nVidia Chipset and so on. Can anyone please tell me what these different categories/interfaces are and which one is right for me ? Also i would like to know how can i find out which one of these above interfaces are compatible with my pc ???

3)if an interface is compatible with my pc, is it possible that a high end video card with that interface may not be compatible with my pc ? How can i find out which video card is compatible with my pc or are they all universal compatible

4)whats the differece between a video card and graphics card ??? Are they the same ???

My computer:
Windows XP, Service Pack 1
Intel Celeron, 1.1Ghtz (1100mthz)
128mb Ram
15gb HDD (Harddrive)
Asus Tusi-M

Thx in advance

PCI-Express is the newest interface, followed by AGP and PCI. SLI is used by nVidia and is basically putting 2 of the same video cards together and making them run as one, or something similar to that. Crossfire is the ATI version of SLI. nVidia chipset and ATI chipset is probably refered to the intergrated video, x200express and 6150 (i think). Seeing your specs, you def dont have PCI-express on your motherboard. Might have AGP and def have PCI

unless it's like AGP X1/2 and AGP X4/8, it should work. Though if you buy a really good card and put it in your system, it won't really do much seeing you'll get bottlenecks everywhere.

same thing

Ok thx so much Yasu and LiuLiuBoy i appreciate your replies. Now i would like to know your opinion on this i did some digging and found out that my Asus Tusi-M motherboard only has PCI slots, but when i ran SISandra(diagnostic tool) it gave me these specs about my motherboard and i am confused now.

Chipset 1
Model : Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) SiS630 CPU to PCI Bridge
Bus(es) : AGP PCI USB i2c/SMBus
Front Side Bus Speed : 1x 100MHz (100MHz data rate)
Maximum FSB Speed / Max Memory Speed : 1x 133MHz / 1x 133MHz
Width : 64-bit
IO Queue Depth : 2 request(s)

Now why would it have AGP bus(es) if it doesnt even have a AGP slot ???

Secondaly if you can take a look at this image which is identical to my MOBO and tell me if i have AGP slots or not ???

Thirdly if i dont have AGP i have decided to buy this video card for my MOBO, please give me your opinion if its a good buy or not ???

that computer won't play games anyways with only 128mb of SYSTEM memory! also, 1.1ghz celery isn't a good processor at all. you need an upgrade.

I appreciate your concern fade2green514 i understand the requirement for a healthy pc that's why i already am purchasing another stick of 512 mb sd ram, so i will have a total of 640+ Mb on my MOBO, which for me is pretty decent. So that being said do you recommend the above mentioned Vid Card ???

the price of each video card varries, from $0 toeven high as $10000(quod sli)
the games you play and the "graphics" how it lags or not is depended on what kind of video card you have.

if you get a video card like fx 5500 or something for $40~60
you might be able to play some cheap games. :D

okie i think people are confused regarding my question so i will be making a new thread. Plz lock this post i appreciate all the genuine help you people have provided.
