Buying a psu for a Diminsion E521

I have pretty much changed this post completely, so disregard the first few posts below this one.

Will this psu work for my Dell? Its BTX and ATX...so its bound to work right? lol

I would fork out some extra cash and get a strong PSU with modular cables if nothing else it will be good to go for your next build as well!!

Dell's power supplies are not standard. In other words, no standard ATX PSU will work. Sorry man, that's the consequence of buying an Dell. Non-upgradeable.

Yes you can upgrade, i have upgraded my dimension e510 psu with a thermaltake 450watts and my other dell with antec 500watts. Go to dell's forum and they will help u out.
 
Modern Dell systems use a standard ATX pinout, which means that you can plug in any ATX PSU and it will work. That's not the only issue, unfortunately. A lot of Dell cases are designed such that a standard PSU won't fit properly - the power switch and fan don't fit the holes in the case.

I don't believe this is an issue with the E521, but I'm not 100% certain about that.

Assuming the I'm correct about that, you should be OK with any (sufficient) PSU.

I'm not a fan of that MSI PSU, though. They're built by a company called Solytech, who have a very poor reputation for PSUs. Take a look at http://www.computerforum.com/90117-ceewi1s-psu-recommendations.html for some of my recommendations.

Keep in mind that upgrading a PSU will likely void your warranty. If you haven't performed any other upgrades I wouldn't worry about the PSU being sufficient - as with all major OEMs, Dell test their PSUs quite extensively to ensure that they are sufficient for the system.
