Buying a quad core - FSB issue

I have the Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 motherboard rev 1.0 which only supports FSB 1066 max.
So I want to buy an Intel Quad but it's getting hard to find a new Q6600 these days.
So my question is, would I really benefit, performance wise, buying another processor (say a Q8400) + a new mobo, or should I keep looking for a Q6600?

Thanks for any help.

There's no use flashing the BIOS with this mobo.

Actually, I can't find a Q6600 or Q6700 cheaper than a Q8400 + new mobo so I think I'm gonna replace the both of them.

According to Gigabyte, the revision 1.0 board will not support anything higher than a 1066 FSB so that will limit your choices to Q6600, Q6700, QX6700 or QX6800

The Q6600 is no longer carried by Newegg or Tigerdirect..

Ebay has them for about $200. The QX series listed above, if you can find them, are going to be $300 plus.

NOTE: The recommendations above are per Gigabyte. I can't get into the extended database of supported CPUs.

Flashing the BIOS to a different revision of that board might work, however I would not recommend doing this as you will be taking a chance that you will trash the BIOS. If you want a CPU that runs a higher FSB your best bet is to get a different MB.
