Totals to $648 with the promo codes, and $633 after you get the rebate from the GPU back. This is just an example, and could be trimmed down further with some price hunting and combo deals, but it's more or less what you should go for.

This will perform a helluva lot better than an i3/GT240, for sure, and those parts are a lot higher quality.

I should ask, though...when you bought Windows 7, did you get it retail? You'll need the 64 bit version to use all of that RAM.

I have the 64 bit version too, but doesn't it create compatibility issues?
 
Nope. XP 64-bit was terrible, for sure, but Win7 has fixed most of the issues. It has great compatibility with 32-bit programs.

It is a bit faster, but the 5770 has DirectX 11...

Good find on that combo. The mobo is an older 7xx chipset, but the only real addition in the 8xx chipsets is Sata 6GB/S, and USB 3.0 in most boards. You can add them both in later.
