Buying a used computer

Hi,
As said above I'm getting a used desktop. I was wondering if there is anything i should do to make sure nothings wrong with it. I was thinking of wiping the memory incase of any viruses but what else could i do to check if all the hardware is running at top speed and stuff. I know if it turns on and plays games that probably means its working but i don't want it to break down after the refund period is over because the selling did something stupid and i did not ketch it in time. Its using liquid cooling so im especially worried that it leaks.(was bought in late 2011) Also he said hes selling it because hes getting another rig but he spent 4k on it in 2011 why would he sell it for a fourth of a price then buy another one which will cost another 4k?
Thanks

I would suggest bringing an individual whom is very knowledgable when it comes to computers with you. Also, figure out how much it would cost for everything if it were brand new and compare that with the price you are paying. It should be MUCH cheaper being used.

But, honestly, bring a person who knows what they are talking about with you if at all possible.

That wont really work since its on ebay and i don't really know anyone knowledgeable about computers in my area either but thanks

Be very careful of buying on eBay, they tend to come up with these fake stories to make the listing look more appealing. You could post it here so we could check it out if you wanted.

I wouldn't say it was 'insane', but I'd say it was pretty good. The auction says it's been stably overclocked and stuff, you might want to just double check that if you get the rig to make sure it has been stably overclocked if you get the rig, stress test it for a bit with Prime95 just to make sure. It is pretty expensive though, getting on for a 1000 dollars I see.

What is it worth?
