Buying A used CPU a good Idea?

What CPU are we talking about here? If it's available brand new, I personally wouldn't do it, but if it's an older model (e.g. out of production), and not available new, and that's the only viable upgrade, then it might be a viable option.

i plan on overclocking it

Personally, I wouldn't, I'm kinda paranoid when it comes to buying used stuff online, but if the ratings of the seller are good and (s)he's received lots of positive feedback, I can't see why you wouldn't go for it. What stepping is it, though? It it's B3, don't get it, those weren't particularly good OCers, it you're sure it's G0, then why the heck not?

I bought a CPU on craigslist used, but I picked it up from his house and he had an amazing rig, and lots of nice parts so he seemed totally trustworthy. It turned out to be perfectly fine for me.
