Buying Laptop...short thread! need your help!

I am in the market for a new laptop.

That's how I configured and I do school work, photoshop, CAD work, CFD stuffs, and play WoW/Blizzard games...

I have Toshiba Tablet PC and I hate it...I thought about getting Dell but it seems like people like HP the most.
Is there a good alternative and can anyone tell me if this configuration is over/under-configured for the uses listed above?

Also looked into ASUA laptops but they are quite expensive and I really don't think that I need all that hardwares to do those things.

That is a excellent set up for what you are needing to do. hp is more popular cause they have quality and excellent pricing. I like Dell more but there graphic cards are not as good as most of there competion for the price.

Is there a need for me to spend extra $50 for additional 1gig memory to get 4gig instead of standard 3gig?

Any good alternative/models you guys can think of?

no vista 32 only reconizes 3.25 gigs im pretty sure so that 50 dollors will be for 256 mgs not worth it
 
Since the hp has 64 bit the extra gig of memory is well worth it. The ASUS is really nice and it is worth it for the better memory card but the question is will you mind the smaller screen? It might be nicer for when your out and about, and when your at home you could hook it up to a larger moniter or if they have a s-video out then you an hook it up to your tv.

Windows Vista Home Premium <- is this 64 bit or 32 bit? hoping it's 32 bit...
I am quite scared that it doesn't have any reviews...I wonder why.
 
Go with the one from newegg, the better cpu will be a nice improvement. Vista Home Premium is 32 bit, so your really only going to get 3.25 gig of memory. If you want 4 gig and have a computer that can be upgraded to 8 gig find one with 64 bit.
 
so the one from newegg is useless as far as memory is concerned...
how much of a difference can 32bit versus 64bit make?
this is my first comp with vista and i've been told that 64bit is better.
i know that 32bit only "counts" up to 3.25gig whereas 64bit "counts" more than that...is there a bigger difference?
i honestly think that 3.25gig(or physical 4gig) is more than enough for anything.

64 bit is a bit more secure from what I have read and 3.25 gig is plenty as far as gaming goes, and even decent multi tasking. But 4 gigs and to have the ability to have more memory will make things faster, and will help with running multiple applications. The nice thing about bestbuy.com (not sure about newegg) is they will tell you what it is able to upgrade to because even if it runs 64 bit if you want to run more than 4 gigs you will want to make sure your mother board can handle it.

i've built computers for years now and i've yet to upgrade a single component mainly because other components have to be replaced as well...so i end up building/buying a new comp.

i mean, my pentium D 3.4gig with 2 gig memory can handle all of those fine with 8800GTS graphics card...i am not sure how much better is 9800GS compared to 8800GTS but as far as spec goes, this laptop kicks my desktops butt i think.

Also considering this, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236044 , for monitor...i will probably hook up that laptop with this monitor via HDMI :)

basically...i am buying this laptop like a "hard-drive" to carry around and whenever i have access to monitor...just hook it up!

i wasnt able to get samsung monitor with 2ms response that has HDMI plug...hows ASUS monitor?
