You definately don't need a 8800 for Medieval II or The Sims 2. I think a 8600 or even a 7000 series card would suffice just fine. I still would upgrade power supplies though, better to be safe than sorry.
 
Definately upgrade that PSU. If you are unsure, look at the sticker on the PSU, and note the max output wattage for the 12V rail(s). It will be 220W or similiar. Then divide that by 12V = 18A, which will be insufficient for any new gpus. Heed our warning mate, you try to power it with an underpowerd psu, and flash, bang - dam you've lost a motherboard, memory and gpu.
