buying RAM

I have an 'ASUS P5RD1-V deluxe' motherboard with two slots for memory. At the moment each slot has a DDR 256MB stick of RAM in it, and i am looking to upgrade...

1.) What is the highest RAM available at the moment? (individual sticks)
2.) Is all RAM universal or are you restricted by your motherboard model, processor etc...?
3.) If so where can I find out the highest RAM I am able to use with these current specs?

1.) 1GB per stick(at least for your system)
2.) Your ram must meet your motherboard's requirement(DDR400/333 non-ECC memory)
3.) Newegg.com would certainlly have it

Do you know if it requires PC 2700, 3200, 6400 or any other ?

what is the highest RAM available at the moment for any given motherboard, and which motherboard supports the most RAM? --> (just out of interest lol)

1 GB per stick... the most you will probably find is 8 slots, maybe 12

Dont buy DDR2, obvious but ya know, just letting you know.
