buying replacement notebook batteries

I have a Toshiba NB200 and the batteries are wearing out. But it seems I cannot get a replacement from Toshiba. Is is dicey to get replacement batteries from someone other than the original manufacturer?

It should be ok as long as it's for the exact model.
Alternatively, you could just crack open the battery and replace the dying cells yourself. There are a bunch of tutorials on youtube
