Why I'm not building? I'm not building my own because I can get an interest free loan (from the bank I work for) but it only would pay for a completely built computer, not parts.

So how does this look for the price? Should I change anything in the build, I was using ww.ibuypower.com to make this desktop.

edit: forgot to mention I'm going to use this computer for music production mainly plus movies, internet, and burning discs.

Motherboard: get MSI P35 Neo-F, it is better overclocking than 650i chipset.
But if IEEE-1394 is essential, just stick with the one you choose.
Video card: get HD3450/ 3650. They are HDCP ready, in case you want to hook it to TV with HDMI in future

If my interest free loan would cover this I would but I doubt they would change their policy, I'll look into it though...

Also I'd have to add the $90-100 operating system to that price right?

Yes true... and you might want to get a better power supply
 
I don't think Jesse's list fit your purpose.
You are not gaming, no point to buy a cheap CPU with an expensive video card.
Just go for a decent CPU, and low-end video card will be better off.

Any other recomendations? I can switch the motherboard and just get a firewire card (I think) and switching the video card is no problem.
 
Also by changing MOBO I would only have two slots for ddr2 ram and was thinking about dropping the ram to 512 mb and just purchasing this to put in when I get it
