Just have one question that came up many time in my brain and I never found an answer to. The thing is that I'll be upgrading to Vista in Feb. and I am planing on upgrading the memory to 3gig 677 and getting a new video card. Right now I have EVGA 7600GS 256mb (pretty shitty :)). I've heard that Vista will have DirectX10. Do I need to buy a DX10 capable video card or will any card work. As of right now I was looking into EVGA 7950GT KO because of its price per performance value. So tell me if u think I should wait or if waiting wont do anything.
Thank you

might as well buy the 8800 gts...even though its more expensive then the 7950 gt, its worth it b/c of its dx10 capabilities. im not sure vista will perform to its fullest if u dont have a dx10 card.

prices should start dropping as soon the r600 comes out next year....if u can wait it out then go for it...maybe ull even spot something better out there for your needs

oh and go back to my monitor thread :D

What i was looking for is 512MB 600Mhz 1500Mhz 256bit 24pixelpipes and it has to be DX10 :)
Thanks and I guess I'll wait til I can buy a card like the one above for $250-300.

Vista will perform to its fullest with a shader model 2.0 video cards and 128MB video memory

Right now it will look the same on a DX9 and DX10 card, if you're only talking about the user interface. But the newer apps and games will look much different on a DX10 card.

true... just too bad DX10 games wont be the standard for a long time ;)

hmmh... buying a new card just for 1 game.. gotta be worth it.. ;) /sarcasm ^^

edit: besides that.. oblivion etc are D9 games.. and you see how cool those look already.. I think the difference between DX9.0c and DX10 won't be that big tbh.

Come on! You're telling me you wouldnt spend $650 for an 8800GTX so you can play Crysis?
No. Why would I spend $650 on a video card period? It's silly. Well unless I only run 3dmark or something :P

I guess I'll just wait till march or something and get a card then. For now I'll just upgrade my memory, CPU heatsink and a new full tower case for better cooling :).
