C2D overclocker's I pose a question.

If C2D are, and for the most part we agree, so overclockable, why doesn't intel just increase the speed itself since they already run so cool. Theories or comments anyone?

Because then they can "expand" their line.. even though overclockers have already increased performance. The fact is, most people in the world don't even know what overclocking is, let alone want to. Of course, I am one of those who would overclock a Conroe...

they want to keep costs down and still keep an advantage against AMD, they could release higher clocked versions later on in AM2's lifespan

I have mine overclocked, but I can't get it any higher then 2.05Ghz. Most likely because of the POS motherboard.

You should reallly change the motherboard Omega. The 6300 can go over 3Ghz on my sys atm.

I know I should, but that would mean I would have to buy new RAM and a new GPU, since I have DDR and AGP right now.

The main reason I didn't upgrade those was because DX10 was coming out in a month or so, and I didn't feel like dropping $300 on a card that would be useless later down the road.
