Cable Internet speed problem

My connection is pretty damn fast most all of the time. But the past week or 2, it's been slowing down to less than dialup speeds pretty regularly. I can almost always fix the problem by shutting down my computer and unplugging the modem so that it resets itself. However, that's a pain in the ass, and beyond that I don't like restarting my computer that often from a wear and tear standpoint. Do I need to have my ISP replace my modem probably?

Thanks guys!

I had the same problem with my crappy FN-100 cable modem. After replacing it with a Cisco uBR900  my connection is pretty stable.

I kinda figured this was what the problem was. I think mine is a... hmmm... it's some goofy ass name...lol

Thanks for the help though Lorand.
