Cable Select?

How do i set a HD cable select? I want it for storge i all ready have a hd with my OS

There will be a jumper on the back of the hard drive (a little peice of plastic) which will be over some pins. there will be CS (cable select), MA (master) and SL (slave), or something similar.

If you pull the hard drive out you will see a sticker that should explain where to put the jumper.

i have set it like it shows but it still wont read it in the bios and all the IDE's are set on auto

And you know this hard drive to be functional correct? Also have you plugged it into the same cable as your other hard drive?

yes and no, its plugged into the same IDE cable, and the jumpers are set, but unsure if it works, a buddy of mine gave it to me, and said it did

i cant feel it spinning but where the green part is it is warm like you can tell there is power going to it

Try settin the jumper to slave

If your original hard drive is set to master make this one set to slave. if your original hard drive is set to cable select make this one set to cable select. Just remember that primary drive is on the last connector on the ide cable and the drive you just got goes on the other one(middle one so to speak).
