used one of those grayscale images to try to calibrate my monitor yesterday . both my brightness and contrast is set to maximum but i still cannot see the last quarter of the black images. the problem is my monitor is too bright for me at the moment but according to that grayscale , i still have to increase the brightness. most info i've read usually say to leave contrast at maximum and then adjust brightness to be able to see all the changes in that grayscale. do people leave contrast and brightness at maximum and what do i do if i don't like the brightness at the moment. i need the monitor to be calibrated for manipulating digital images? thanks for any input.
