call of duty 4 discussion thread

I'm surprised how it's not a system hog. It runs smooth on 1024x768 and mostly high settings (with the PC in my sig). It's an incredible game and much more cinematic than previous CoDs.

runs smooth on my system the only problem with the game is trying to find servers, it mostly says waiting for responce from master server.

This was an issue for me as well back when I played COD 2 and United Offensive. I think you need to open up certain ports on your firewall and it should solve the problem.

I don't know which ports have to be opened but the easiest thing to do is shut down your anti-virus/firewall while you play.

game is incredible....love it!! very intense and the graphics are amazing. the closest you can get to real war, imagine being there live.....

I just tried the demo runs super smooth at 1280 x 1024 set everything on in settings but no aa thaught it would of been crap on a 6800 GT card I guess im good for another year. I much prefair armed assault though far more realistic and larger combat area the younger gamers will love it though. I just don't like being on rails in a small enviroment anymore but the multiplayer looks good shame it aint in the demo.

I got the game this morning and I must say, it has to be one of the best games I've ever played. It is truly Game of the Year material. I love it.

For those who have played it, who else found the final section of the Chernobyl level impossible? I mean it's so freakin' hard! Three dropships, endless waves of baddies, a chinook that takes FOREVER to arrive and only stays for 30 seconds before leaving!! Oh yeah and you have to carry your injured buddy out too. That was ridiculous. Took me at least thirty attempts before I completed it. And while I'm on the subject of frustration: WILD DOGS THAT KILL YOU WITH ONE BITE. I mean WTH. I have yet to succesfully shake them off, even after mashing the melee button like crazy. It's like they're mutant dogs or something. Who else bloody hates them?

what would u guys recommend to play the game on medium with good framerates on vista? would an E2140/4200X2, 2gb ram, an x1900GT run it?

I got it today and beat the single player and I must say that level was the one I most enjoyed but it was very difficult. I also second your dog complaints, throughout the entire campaign I cursed as soon as I heard a dog bark and I too never shook one off.

For anyone who has finished the game what did you think of Infinity Ward's little song at the end?:P and the "surprise" after the credits?

Overall a great story with awesome action and great twists and truly did keep me entertained throughout.

yes awsome game. My favorite mission was the sniper one. I ran through it pretty quick on normal (one above the lowest). For some reason tho I cant seem to change the difficulty. I wanna play again on harder.

i think it has to be selected from the start of the game... you remember the mini-mission where you breach room to room? it suggests the difficulty you play based on your time, then it allows you to select it. once u do, i think you're stuck with it the rest of the game unless you start a new campaign. there might be a way to change it mid game, but i havent found it either :(

yes it will, probably around medium settings. if you were to overclock your CPU or replace it with something faster you could probably run on highest settings. i know for a fact the x1900gt will run it maxed because my friend has that card
