cam for laptop

Ok well my laptop has a built in cam, but i want to hook up one with a cord so i can put the cam on my reptile tank without having to keep my laptop always turned to the tank. I hooked up my old web cam and it does not work on my laptop at all. Will any work other than the built in one? My laptop has windows 7.

Have you checked for a driver for your old web cam that will run on windows 7. I have a good old wireless cam from logitech. And they don't have a driver update for any x64 bit OS. Piss me off. So, I bought a MS webcam that will work with x64 bit OS's

ok maybe thats it, it is a old cam had it for looonnnggg time. its from logitech. And nope there is no driver updates for it. Im going to buy a new cam that will work for windows 7, just a basic one.
