Cam won't work

My sis is trying to instal a camera onto my new computer, but it won't work. Is there a reason why it won't work? Could it be that it isn't compatible with Vista? The box says it is. Thanks in advance.
 
What camera is it? It could be that the drivers are a little out of date and you just need to get the updated ones from the manufacturer's website.
 
It's an HP VGA cam. Sorry, I don't know the exact product name. I installed the driver and looked it up online. The driver had the same year when my sister bought it, so I thought it wouldn't matter.
