can a video editing laptop also function as a gaming laptop and vice versa?

let me start off by saying that im fairly ignorant when it comes to IT, laptops, specs, and all that jazz.

its my understanding that there are laptops that are built for video-editing and there are also those that are built for video games. I'm trying to decide between which one i should get, then i got to thinking that maybe they could be used interchangeably.

what i mean is, it's also my understanding that both video editing and gaming require the same sort of specs to function well, namely, lots of RAM, high performance processor and video card etc. Based from this, couldn't a video editing laptop also be used as a gaming laptop and vice versa? I understand that doing this would decrease the performance of both editing and gaming if both are being used at the same time, but i was thinking of just playing when im not working and then when ive got a project, i would just uninstall my games, and then install them again when im done with the editing. forgive me if none of this makes any sense, again, im not knowledgeable when it comes to anything about computers and this is the main reason why im posting this, so i could gain a better understanding.

thank you.

Realistically, you could, probably just fine. What laptop did you have in mind?
