My 8800GT just gave out on me after 4 precious years. (3-year warrenty)

Im pretty much broke and can only afford an 8400 GS. Can it play CoD4 on low-medium, maybe even high settings?

You might be able to play it on low/some medium, but definitely not high. That card is horrible, it's not a gaming card at all.

yeah the 8500gt can play it on medium. i had the xfx 512mb 8500gt and it ran it 1440 x 900 on medium at about 40-50 fps

i got a friend who says he played cod4 on all high with 8500gt 512mb on his native res of 1440x900. i doubt it.

bullshit

i had an ati x1650 pro 512mb and it ran it on like medium at 1024x768
my even older x600 ran it at lowest at 800x600 lol

so i upgraded to an geforce 8600 and even then that only runs it on like medium/high at 1024x768 or on medium at 1280x1024

If you're looking for gaming cards, ignore anything less than an 8600 etc etc, 8500's and 8400's (9500's and 9400's included) are horrid for running games and are generally just for entry level computing with minor gaming.

at 8600 is good though for gaming and it doesnt need as much power an 8800

an 8600 can run FEAR, Armed Assault, BF2 on high

lol. that's why i said i doubt it. :P

8600 is good card for gaming, pretty much can play any game on high except for crysis. O_O

i run fear, battlefield 2, armed asault on highest (apart from antialising, if i put that on its just high settings not highet or else it lags) on an 8600 at 1280x1024

an 8600 is pretty good actually
