Hi, I'm not very knowledgable about computers but: Is it possible to buy graphics cards for laptops, as you would for an ordinary desktop PC?

no, graphics are integrated onto the motherboard. you would need to upgrade you motherboard, which will be nearly impossible to get one that will fit.

No not unless you want to buy a new motherboard as well and it is hard to install if you do not know what you are doing!

laptops are notoriosuly more difficult to upgrade, I would just look to get a new laptop if mine became too out of date.
