Can anyone help me find a good deal on a pre-built desktop?

I'm going off to university, and my parents have offered to pay for a new desktop computer but they won't buy parts for a computer so I could build one, so I'm stuck choosing from a pre-built pc from companies such as Dell, Lenovo, and so forth.

Problem is: Which desktop would be the best for me? Should I go for an All-In-One instead?

I'm all for better speeds and all, but I want a good working computer that I can use for studying, research papers, and online gaming (I play various games, as of right now it's Skyrim and WoW). I'm also interested in finding a computer with at least 1 TB HDD.

I'm sort of on a budget of $1,500 since that's the most they're willing to pay for it.

what country are you in, there are some pretty good configurators that are well priced and let you pick all the parts.

I hate to multipost, but I have a question about that site:

So they build everything for me with the parts I choose?

i was thinking, maybe buy all the parts you need from newegg.com and take all the parts down to a local computer shop and get them to build it, and pay the labour fee and your good to go, and it will be better than any $1,500 prebuilt computer, unless its from a dedicated computer store.

They build the system for you and assemble it. Don't count on them to do any decent cable management or even set things up properly.

Honestly I'd try to convince your parents why buying a prebuilt is a bad idea, bad value for money, and if they don't budge, maybe you should pay for it yourself to prove a point :) Parents are like that...

Either that or you could tell them that newegg assemble the parts before they ship it out... but I dunno how that will roll.

I don't have a local computer shop. The nearest is three hours away, and I can't drive all the way there just for that.
