I have tried gaming on my computer before. Steam games run perfectly, TF2, HL: DM, Torchlight, you name it, it works. I play WOW, works perfectly, Borderlands? Nada. DnD Ebberon? Nada. DMC: 4 Nada. Can anyone explain why this is happening? Here's my specs.

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 651
Mobo: Biostar P4M900-M7 FE
4GB Ram
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT

Can somebody help me?

System requirements would be the first thing to do.

Borderlands is a newer game and a very advanced game compared to the other games you listed. It's most likely both your CPU and GPU because they're both pretty old. What settings do you play it on? Try lowering everything to the lowest setting.

yeah, borderlans is continuosly generating game and large environment, so it need alo of cpu to do it, along with tons of gpu ram needed, 512 is probably the lowest, 1gb needed, along with dual cores at 2ghz+

The 9500GT isn’t really a gaming card, more of a card that’s suited towards HTPCs or just general computing and on top of that its quite old now So i think that’s where your problem lies.

Id suggest upgrading your graphics card, But you will also have to make sure your PSU is capable of whatever you replace the 9500 with.

The problem is that
1. I used to be able to play D&D
2. System Req Lab said I could when I first bought the games.
3. My processor is running at 3.4ghz and Borderlands only needs 2.4ghz

D&D isn't a graphically demanding game, thus your computer can handle it. And you're running a 3.4ghz Pentium 4 (which is a pretty ancient processor). Newer core i3/5/7 chips are MUCH more powerful at the same frequencies.

Basically you're having trouble because your computer is outdated.

yeah, match that on a single threaded app, only able to use 1 core for it, v an i3/5/7, and the p4 should get less than half the speed of them, and all the i's ar multicore, i3 is 2 acting as 4, i5 is 4 as 4, i7 is 4 as 8, using hyperthreading which is bassically it pulls info in like 2 cores on all but i5 which does a little but not the same, and then there's the i7 980/90x's with 6 as 12, but are 1k, think they got one for like 5-6 hundred something.

You may be able to run those games at the very lowest settings, with some lag, but anything more and you'll experience a ton of lag.

by that he means lowest settings, go to driver software and lower stuff, and then lower game res to 800x600 or lower if it's got it, then go f*** urself cause you're screwed , but not as much as me and my radeon 9600se with athlon xp 2400+ and less than a gig of ram at snail speed.

The problem I'm having is that the launcher will appear, (or whatever that picture thats in the middle of the screen that signifies that the game is loading) And it just stays there, forever until I close it.

Can anyone suggest a good processor around $100, and is my graphics card good enough (as in decent, I'm only playing games that are like 2+ years old so I don't need some fancy +300 graphics card) for what I need it for?

Basically the only thing you could do is upgrade the processor to a Core 2 Duo. But which one depends on the Rev. of the board you have. Look it up at Biostar and on the Supported CPU list.

Then upgrade the Video Card. But that depends on what you want to spend on one and what kind of power supply you have.

Really you would be better off saving up some more and do a full upgrade. Which would only be a board and memory more. Then you could get a better processor for close to the same price as a Core 2 cost now.

um, my parents won't pay for a full computer upgrade, I only need a processor. Is that the best I can get for a low price or is there anything better for about the same price?
