or even cables and contacts between hardware

CPUs can, actually. That takes a long time, though, unless you are overclocking them.

Oh, parts of computers don't get tired, and tell you to go away cos they want to sleep.
Like with any machine (eg a car), the parts wear out over time, and will eventually stop working.
