Can I Add More RAM to my comp??, help please

Hi I was wondering if I could add more ram into my computer, I have two 2gb sticks in at the moment, and I was wondering if I could just pop two more in?, if so could i use a different make and if so, does anyone suggest any?


also i was wondering, the ram i have in at the moment, do i need to go into the bios and change stuff for it, cause i didn't when i first setup the comp, was that something i should of done???

I built my comp about a month ago and my parts are as follows
Case:: Corsair 600t
Hard drive:: Samsung 1tb
Blue ray disk drive:: LG super multi blue.
Graphics card:: PNY Nvidia Geforce gts 450
CPU:: Intel i5 760
Mobo:: Asus P7P55D-E PRO
Ram:: Corsair Xms3 ddr3 2 2gb sticks
Psu:: corsair HX650W

yes u can, but it's best to use same kind of ram to get best performance.

Your board supports up to 16GB of RAM. And as the above poster stated, use the same RAM for the best result.

and just for the record, you don't have to do anything in the BIOS unless you plan on overclocking the ram.

i was also planning to build a new comp for my dad, (about to order parts) and i was just wondering if i bought 2 of these http://www.ebuyer.com/product/226283

would i be able to just put that in my machine and put my current ram into my dads machine? (when i build his)

I would get the below memory for your system. Use the memory you have in your present computer for your Dad's system. This RAM is faster and it also allows for dual-channel which adds a little bit more processing speed.

yeh i guess your, right, if i went for more than 4gb of ram in my current comp, i would have to re-instal windows so i could get 64-bit, thanks for your help.

If you were to add more than 4 gigabytes of memory it most likely would not improve performance. For most systems (even gaming systems) 4 gigabytes of RAM is more than enough.

I am still running my system with 2 gigabytes of memory and it works fine but I am also not playing the latest video games or using resource intense programs.
