I am getting overwhelmed with returning my laptop, working on a site and school and stuff.

I want to get a new build or upgrade plan.

If I upgrade my current rig, I want a new case, ram, and gpu and a monitor and vista.

If I build new.... This current rig in sig becomes a LAN server.

Id like to do the second option. With making my current computer a server.

I have a budget. Around 1500. I want 500 for a mp3 player and stuff.

Thanks.

I am looking for feedback and links, like 'oh buy this card'

Thanks

Afterall, its not that easy to build a high-end computer and its not even such an upgrade from yours, actually the HD is smaller and the CPU is only a bit better

Can I get a link to that psu.

And Thank You.

Also, I need vista. =/
I guess home... I just need to make sure halo 2 vista can play on vista home basic.

What can I guess cut down on ...

eh, whats the point of getting two 8800s and SLIing them? I mean, unless you have a 32" monitor, there is no game out that would need that much power.

Yeah but wont it pay off in the future?

And at a LAN go...Yeah? I have two 8800's.

Sure, you can sli the gts's. The 8800gtx will be more future proof because you could sli it later, but the gts's would be more cost effective.

Over all...
2 8800gts' or one 8800gtx

what will be the best? There roughly the same price.

Then seeing how theres $600. Then... $300 for a 6600? or will that be cheaper soon.
Then what mobo?

----
Heres what I plan the rough rounded price being...

gpu - 600 = 2 8800gts'
cpu - 300 = e6600
psu - 100 = enough to power it all
ram - 200 = 2gb
case - 150 = ThermalTake
Hdd - 100 = 320 or something
OS - 110 = vista home premium OEM
Monitor - 260 = 22'' widescreen

Total - $1,820
Estimating and stuff, and prices should drop a little.
Still need a mobo
maybe cut down the screen.

there are games that can use two 8800's. like crysis

the rig in my sig totaled to about the same as yours and that is w/o MIR
only one 8800gtx but the PSU leave tons of room for you to upgrade later if you want to go 8800gtx SLI...
so all you need to do later on is buy another 8800gtx and off you go!

Doubt it Jimmy...

Would having two SLI'd 8800's be any good anyway? All monitors are bound to a certain refresh rate and LCD's have a response time, mine runs at 60Hz with a response time of 5ms, this means the monitor can only limited to 60 fps, read this article on Wikipedia for more info:
