Can I change the CPU in this laptop?

You will have a terrible time trying to get to the CPU on that laptop, alot of the aspires I've seen have them on the underside of the mainboard and you will need to remove the bottom of the case, at least 2 ribbon cables, and it's honestly not worth the trouble.

You will end up paying a huge premium to find a replacement chip even if you did go ahead..

I say, save your pennies for a new laptop down the road!!

Thanks for the info! The only reason I bought it was because the tag on it said 2.4GHz x2, and when I started up CPUID it said 1.2 GHz.

Walmart wouldn't return it (and I worked there at the time). I may just end up selling the laptop and desktop and buying a brand new laptop.

it may have been on a power saver state. While the cool and quiet is on and watching netflix, mine usually only registers 1.47GHz on CPUz, but at 100% load it reads the full 2.3GHz. Just a thought, and Im sure if its intel, the speed step would read simular to cool and quiet.
