Can any VC work for any computer, even if it is about 4years old?

No, it depends on the interface mainly.
-You would have to see what interface your motherboard supports such as AGP 4x/8x or pci or PCI-e
-Then you would have to see what you card is
-If the video card is about 4 years old then i doubt that it is pci-e, most likely AGP.
