just wondering- i have an old IDE hard drive with a bunch of good music and stuff. id like to keep the music and videos. i dont need the programs i guess. so when i turn on the computer with the HD in, when i open iTunes, would the songs be there? or do i have to extract the m or whatever you call it?
thanks

If that's an old small drive you don't want to keep in a newer build simply locate and copy the files you want to keep onto the newer larger drive. First create a few folders for receiving them however. Once on the newer drive simply allow ITunes to add them into it's own library and create new playlists.

Usually you will find a search option where all drives selected will searched by the player for media files. Or you can choose the add to library option under "File" to see more added. That tells ITunes or another player like WMP that the files exist and where it can find them.
