I was wondering as the title would state if there was a way for me to make my computer faster without spending any money?

Here is my Rig

dell 2100 series (the black one)

Windows XP professional
version 2002
service pack 3
intel Celeron 1.10 GHZ
192MB of pc133 sdram

anything would be great

No, also that computer is pretty old and your best bet would prolly be just saving up some $$ and getting a new computer altogether. If you mean speed up the os and whatnot, i would start by reinstalling windows xp;)

Yeah I know its old but I got it free from my dads office they did not have use for it so I took it. I would love to get a new machine but in that I am a senior in high school at the moment my money is pretty tight. THANKS FOR THE INFO THOUGH

best ya can do is some housekeeping. defrag and use a reg cleaner like ccleaner.com its freeware.

That's what I was gonna say too.

Hey, we've all been in your position so we understand lol. :) Wait till you get to college if you think you have no money now! :) What I would do is just try to get a part time job and save some of those pay checks to build yourself a nice rig. Heck, the better rigs of my time were built by friends who plunked down every cent they made into their computers and man those were nice. Now that they are older and have more income, they spend a little bit more when compared to those days. What I'm trying to say is don't let it get you down or anything because once you're making some good money, you'll be able buy whatever what you want.

Try installing ubuntu OS because my computer had a window XP also ,but when I put Ubuntu ,it really speed much faster in browsing and kinda stable than window XP. It never freeze than my window Xp. Ubuntu is FREE!!

Reinstall windows
Virtual Ram
Um clean up the computers

dont throw it away thou the XP License is worth a bit for people who dont like Vista

I have the ubuntu disk only thing is it takes 256 MB of RAM to run at a good speed and all I have is 128MB

Maybe try to add more memory , about games I didn't try yet. Looks like only games that are compatible with linux.

when I get more money I will add more RAM. I hardly EVER play games on my rig I have my psp for that but there are some games that have to be played on the computer.

You have an extremely out-dated computer. Did you buy that five/six years ago or something? It's weaker than my dad's computer!!! I suggest you upgrade your RAM and your CPU, aswell as get a new graphics card. Maybe a 7950 would make it good for 2007 games. Take out your current RAM and throw it away, then put in anouther gig of it. Also, an Intel Dual Core will be good for that. You've probably got one of those tiny cases. Get a Trinity case, then you'll have space for three of your computers in one case.

unfortunately though that license may only work with that computer. Might be attached to his motherboard so it wont work with other motherboards. Thats if Windows came with the computer, but if it was bought later ya it will work on other computers.

actually the only reason I have it is because I got it free from my dads office they where going to throw it away so I took it because it is better than nothing when I have no money at all

you would be better off with win2000PRO if you don't want to use linux as XP will run like a sack of sh*t on that setup.
