Can I mix DDR3 and DDR5 Video cards?

I have a custom built computer. My motherboard supports up to 3 graphics cards. I have a 2gb AMD Radeon R7 240 DDR3 graphics card currently in there, but I am starting to think about adding a second card. My graphics card does support crossfire, and I know that I would have to stick with an AMD graphics card. My question, is can I add a DDR5 graphics card to the system in ADDITION to my existing DDR3 card, or would I have to completely replace my current card?

*I have a 750 Watt power supply in the computer already*

Technically, you should use the same series of card. Are you just wanting access to more screens or what?

No, I use it for gaming, and even though I haven't run into any real issues with my current card, Games like Skyrim I have had to install a few mods to run on the graphics I want, so on newer games that are more resource intensive I figured I would probably need a more capable card and I would prefer a DDR5 card as I have read it is much better for gaming.

As a side note, would 4gb of DDR3 be better than a 2GB of DDR5 if I can't mix them?

Ok, Ill look into that when I can finally upgrade it. It will probably be a little while, but I want to know what I'm looking for when I can. Thanks for the advice. Hopefully I won't have to wait to long. Just gatta take care of some other stuff first xD

Yeah, just get a single better card.

You could theoretically crossfire DDR3 and DDR5 R7 240's but it would kind of be a waste of time performance wise, plus the crossfire pair would be performance limited by the ddr3 card anyway.

If you wanted to mix your 240 with something like a 270x, fogetaboutit..
