So this is my build...

Core i7 2600K LGA 1155 Zotac ZT-50203-10M

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1280MB

ASUS P8Z68-V PRO LGA 1155 Z68 ATX Intel Motherboard

Vengeance Series 8GB DDR3-1866 RAM

LG 12X SATA Blu-Ray DVD Burner with Lightscribe

Samsung 830 Series MZ-7PC064D/AM 64GB SATA 6.0Gb/s SSD

Samsung 23" LED SA300 Monitor

950 Watt Silencer MK II ATX Power Supply

Carbide Series 500R Mid Tower ATX Gaming Computer Case

For cooling I bought a Master Cooler V6GT heatsink

Also have a 240mm side fan, (2) 120mm front intake fans, (1) rear 120mm exaust fan and (2) 120mm top fans also exausting

Will this be cool enough to overclock and how do I go about doing that? I read somewhere that this motherboard and cpu can get about 5.2 ghz with overclocking safely

i'm not an expert on this, but i'll try.

First you have to go into the bios and find the cpu options. Then locate the cpu multiplier and raise it by .5, and boot into the os. now you must download a cpu stress tester (i think prime95 is what is normally used) and run it. Make sure there are no errors and that the temp never exceeds 70, but you want it under 60. And now you repeat this untill you get an error, get too high temps., or get the desired results. But with that cooler i'd be looking at closer to 4.5, 5.2 is more like a water cooled temp i think.

Yea that is what I was thinking, 4.5. I figured 5.2 seemed much just for fans but I still think going to 4.5 is worth it. It is a significant jump. Is it possible to do any damage in this process. Will the BIOS protect the cpu or is there no safety net?

if the cpu gets too hot the mobo automatically cuts it off, but really you won't see any difference in performance, the 2600k is soo fast that there is no point really in overclocking it. ik would just put her at like 4ghz if you want and leave it there so it's still at a lower temp but you can still show off the speed or whatever.
