Can I put my fan up to 100%?

My GPU is running at about 132 degrees Fahrenheit, after I've turned up the fan to 75%. It was getting very hot at the default 30% (~180 degrees).

Is 132 alright? Or should I blast my fan up to 100%? I don't care about noise, but are there any negative effects to the fan being at 100%?
 
I'm not sure. I've got 2 fans, and the GPU fan. My computer is getting REALLY hot though, and I'm not sure why.

It's got 6gb RAM, AMD Quad Core (rated at 6.4ghz), etc.. so It's a nice computer. Still, I'm only downloading a game + running firefox.
 
Running the fan @ 100% will have no bad side effects other than being louder than a lime green jumper. So, you're good to go. People say it'll shorten the life of the fan, sure, it will, but you'll replace the card before te fan goes on it. ;)
 
whoah... you're computer is not well ventilated. My card idles at around 40 degrees celcius. Under load, it never really gets passed 60.
 
Oh great, haha.

I just have the HP Pavilion Elite, totally unmodified at the moment. How much will I have to lay down for a new case, and how difficult is it to do?

Oh, did I forget to mention I'm running a 9800 GT?

I've read around that ~140 is acceptable, and with 80% fan speed I'm down to 129.
 
It could be your power supply. I had an 8600GT plugged into my stock 250W PSU. This caused the PSU to get really hot, and then all the heat from the gfx card rose to the top and made it hotter. I recently installed the Cooler Master 500W PSU (which is bugged and runs 100% constantly) and it lowered my idle temp by about 6C. At peak load my card used to hit 80C and now it only goes up to 65C. Plus this PSU has a 120mm fan. So it doesn't generate much heat because of it's power, and it blows out any excess heat from my card.
 
^^ HA.. I have the exact same PSU that I bought for $50. Yes for some reason, my fan runs at 100% as well. It's not really loud though.
 
Well it depends. I suppose the PSU fixed my issue both because it doesn't generate heat and plus because it blows away any other heat. The 120mm fan most likely has something to do with it. Do you have the huge fan on the bottom of the PSU or the small fan that doesn't really do anything. Haha.

And to Intel man. I read the reviews of this PSU on NewEgg. Apparently since it's a "smart fan" there's a temp sensor on it. I think all of the model's sensors actually touch the, well, hot part of the PSU. Some people say they have been able to open theirs up and move the sensor, greatly reducing noise. But it also voids the warranty and possibly ruins the PSU if you don't do it right. Im gonna leave mine alone, haha. It's noisy but not that noisy.
 
Yea it's not that noisy for a 120mm fan.

I had to go and replace my PSU before because I left my computer on for like a month and the fan started to make weird noises.


I don't leave it on for too long so the fan doesnt act up anymore.
 
Your running at 130 F---and most people on this are answering you in Celcius-which converting it--you are only at 55 C-still a little warm-but that's where my old 8500 gt used to idle at also(in an emachine no less). The Asus 9600 GSO that I have now always idles around 43 C or 113 F.
 
Okay well with all the ventilation my case has, my card idles at 51C. A little hot but I have my card OC'ed up 100MHz. You usually don't need to worry until you get around 80C, depending on what card it is.
