Can I replace my CPU?

Hi I have an older HP Pavilion a1200y computer with an Intel Celeron D CPU inside. I was wanting to know if my computer would support upgrading to a Intel Core 2 Duo. I know both the Celeron D and the Core 2 Duo use a LGA 775, so size wouldn't be an issue. They also both use about the same amount of cooling so I can use the same fan. Is there any reason that it would be incompatible? I am running Windows XP SP2 if that helps.

The RC410 supports Core 2s, however HP only lists up to the Pentium D 900 series as supported which probably means the BIOS doesn't support it.
