can i restrict certain sites on my pc?

I have a new pc on vista would it be possible to restict my son to only using certain sites that im happy with and nothing more he was playing on free online games a while ago and knackered my old pc so for instance if i only wished him to play cbeebies what woudl i do and would i have to set up a user account for him and make the restrictions within that account

search for the add on called "public fox" there is a built in black/white list where you can restrict sites

I don't know how you would do that for IE with out having a third party app, there is also a free filter app that runs on Windows and OS X but the name escapes me at the moment.....

I will have to remember what it is called...

Take a look at Windows SteadyState (free from microsoft).

It will do exactly what you need to do with the internet (if you use internet explorer exclusively), but will take a little time to set up.

It will be a great step to preventing your Windows based PC from being knackered.

Actually you could configure it so that other browser executables cannot run from certain accounts... so the PC itself doesn't have to be IE exclusive.
