Can i run vista

HI everyone i was thinking about upgrading to vista in my laptop i was just wanding if the laptop would run it here is what i got to work with
windows xp
home edition
service pack 3

dell inspiron1010
intel(R) @1.66Hz
1.60 GHz 1gb of ram

Your specs are the same as my laptop, except I only have 512Mb of RAM, and Vista was not
very happy on it. I've put the Windows 7 Beta on it and that works great.

The Windows 7 Release Candidate becomes public on May 5th if you can wait for that. Otherwise,
I would not suggest putting Vista on that system.
