I bought my computer with vista pre-loaded on it so i dont have a physical copy of vista. anyways I have been wanting to try ubunu (linux for human beings LOL!) but if its not for me i would like the opportunity to switch back with out re-buying vista...any ideas???

thanks

First off...the amzing thing is that Ubuntu comes on something called a Live CD. This way, you can just boot from the CD and you can just do a dry run with ubunto, without installing anything.

that helps but i was wonering if there was a way to back it up on a nice physical cd/dvd???

Lol, not anyway that i knw of. Your hdd is atleast 9 gb+. no cd/dvd riught now can hold that. except the bluray/hddvd. You said you have an external drive, no?

Many disk cloning software packages allow for a disk image to be stored on another type of media such as magnetic tape, DVD-R, CDR/RW, or kept in a central location to be cloned to many computers via a network. Most disk cloning software packages operate outside WindowsXP using bootable disks or CDs to start, as the operating system places limits on hard drive access which make cloning drives directly difficult.

found on the link i gave you. Just read through the site, it'll answer your questions on how and what. at the bottom of the page of the link i gave you, theres the table of contents.

thanks man, one last question what happens if the vista file saves copy over wrong? will i be ****ed? is there a free way to run two OS's? is that recommended?

You can have two - or even more - OSs installed at once, and it's HIGHLY unlikely that you'll have any problems. You could just install ubuntu and dualboot with vista, and there you go... if you don't like ubuntu, just simply delete it, your windows installation won't be affected.
